Welcome to the new Bard Ceilidh's Website
-
Unfortunately, due to a change of management at the venue,
the Bard Ceilidhs have now finished with the November 2006 dance. Thank you to those of you for
suggesting alternative venues, (of which many were outside Birmingham), but as many of you know
the difficulties I’ve had over the years in finding a stable desirable venue, I have decided to call it a day.
- The Bard Ceilidhs lasted for eight years from February 1999 to November 2006.
It remains as one of the most successful Saturday night English Ceilidh dance series
featuring live music in the country. I would like to thank everyone who has attended over the years.
I also wish to thank Arnold Steeds for having established a regular Birmingham barn dance series in the
first place.Without it, the Bard Ceilidhs would not have begun. Many people were dedicated regulars who
rarely missed a dance. The support and feedback over the eight years has truly been amazing. Many friends
have been made and couples have met and got married due to the Bard Ceilidhs.
- I have thoroughly enjoyed organising them and been given the opportunity to let people from all walks
of life, the chance to socialise and dance on a regular monthly basis. Many people have been introduced to folk
dancing. I want to thank everyone for making the series such an outstanding success – the bands, the callers
and the dancers, you’ve been tremendous. Thanks also for the many emails and phone calls I have received, saying
how much you enjoyed and appreciated the dances. So for one final time,
give yourselves a great big round of applause –you’ve all been fantastic!
